DSLR is a box of mysteries. As a beginner, you never know all secrets of it. In my previous posts I have discussed about few basic terms in photography like shutter speed, focal length, crop factor, etc.
Now you will get to know how, on combining these factors produces amazing images. If you have not read that post, or do not know about these terms, follow the given link:

To capture a low light photo, You need to understand few things:
1) The Aperture controls the part of light that enters in your camera. In camera, Aperture is displayed by "f"value. So, Lower the value of the denominator, more light will enter in the camera.
2) The Shutter Speed checks till how long will the camera record the image. It's unit is Second(s). More the shutter speed value, more brighter image will be captured.(!!!!!NOTE: WHENEVER YOUR SHUTTER SPEED IS MORE THAN 1 SEC, IT IS PREFERABLE TO USE A TRIPOD OR REST THE CAMERA ON SOMETHING STABLE, LIKE A TABLE OR A CHAIR, JUST TO AVOID SHAKY IMAGES.!!!!!)
So now, the rest depends totally on your experiment and your camera configurations. Adjust the aperture value to lowest, and take shutter speed of 1/2 sec, with ISO 800-1600. Keep experimenting with the aperture and shutter speed values, and check which settings gives the best results. Over practice and experience, you will gain the ability to predict these values just by seeing the scene. But for now, take your gears, and get to a dark room, with least light. Setup your gears, and ask your model to stand ta the place where you will click the picture. Ask the model to turn on his mobile flashlight and lighten up his/her face. This will let you focus on the subject even in darkness.(please switch the focus mode from auto to manual). Now experiment with the settings, and see the results. BUT REMEMBER, A VERY HIGH ISO VALUE WILL CAUSE NOISE/GRAINS IN THE PHOTO.
IF YOU WANT TO TAKE SHOT OF MILKY WAY USING YOUR DSLR, MY NEXT POST WILL BE ON THAT. SO PLEASE DO FOLLOW MY BLOG AND SUPPORT ME BY SHARING THIS ARTICLE.
*THE MODELS WERE NOT AT ALL STABLE, AND THUS RESULTED IN SHAKY PIC.
BUT TO BE MENTIONED, THIS PIC WAS CLICKED AT 8: 30 PM. CHECK THE LIGHTING)
